Enrolment Requirements

This course is specifically for learners with learning difficulties and /or disabilities.

If you are a keen gardener and like to grow flowers, vegetables and fruit then this course is for you. To join this course you must have communication and listening skills. If you are unable to work independently you will need to come with an enabler to support you.

What will I learn on this Course?

At YMCA allotment you will learn a range of skills to help you set up and maintain an allotment garden. These include:
 How to prepare the ground for planting
 Sowing, planting and cultivating
 Preparing the greenhouse
 Learning practical skills that are associated with all aspects of gardening.

Assessment and Awarding body: non-accredited

Activities and work will be assessed by your tutor.

Attendance?

You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes. A minimum of 80% attendance is required.

What else do I need to know?

Safety boots and gardening gloves are all you will need as instruction on what to buy will be given at the first session.
