Art Appreciation

Description

Enrolment Requirements

A chance to underline an interest in art. You don’t need to be a practising artist, just someone who enjoys visiting exhibitions and galleries, looking at paintings and who is intrigued to know a bit more. The basic course will try and explain what artists are on about!

What will I learn on this course?

  • What artists are trying to say in their work tutor led discussion and open forum
  • Enjoy discussion with like-minded and share opinions on a wide range of artists from the past to present day
  • What the “isms” mean and painting techniques
  • Visits to galleries and fun tasks to explain issues.

Assessment and Awarding Body: non-accredited

Activities and work will be assessed by your tutor.

Attendance?

You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend, you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes.

What else do I need to know?

You won’t be expected to bring much apart from some enthusiasm, but a tablet or smartphone and traditional notebooks would support on-going tasks. Hand-outs will be provided where appropriate to support tasks and paper provided when needed.

What could I do next?

Maybe the theoretical nature of this course will spur you on to do a practical course such as drawing, painting, or crafts? It will help you enjoy your gallery visits more from an informed standpoint.
