This course is specifically for learners with learning difficulties and /or disabilities.
This course is designed for beginners who have an interest in traditional country arts and crafts, but those who have some experience will also be most welcome. To join this course you must be able to follow instructions, communicate, actively listen and demonstrate hand eye coordination. If you are unable to work independently you will need to come with someone to support you.
What will I learn on this Course?
This course is for anyone who enjoys traditional textile crafts such as proggy mats, weaving and working with fabrics and materials.
You will learn the basics including:-
A variety of traditional techniques using textiles and fabrics.
How to use craft equipment correctly safely
Making proggy mats, weaving fabrics and creative textile designs.
Assessment and Awarding body: non-accredited
Activities and work will be assessed by your tutor.
You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes. A minimum of 80% attendance is required.
What else do I need to know?
Basic equipment will be provided, but if you already have some sewing equipment and fabrics you are welcome to bring it to your first class. After each session you will be instructed on what to buy and bring to the following session.
