Spanish Beginners Term 3
This course will develop skills learned in terms 1 and 2, but it is possible for complete beginners to join. The emphasis will be on speaking and using the language in real-life contexts.
What will I learn on this course?
A variety of everyday topics will be covered such as introducing yourself, buying snacks and drinks, asking for directions, booking accommodation and shopping. The emphasis will be on speaking, although other activities will include listening to Spanish and reading short extracts.
Assessment and Awarding Body: non-accredited
Activities and work will be assessed by your tutor.
You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend, you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes.
What else do I need to know?
The sessions provide a fun, interesting and relaxed learning environment, where learners are encouraged to participate. During the sessions, many of the activities require you to work in pairs and small groups, using simple Spanish. The course will be loosely based on the BBC book Talk Spanish 1, which is available with or without CDs. There is no requirement to purchase this, though many learners choose to do so. You are asked to bring pens and paper to each session. A ring binder would also be useful so that learners can build up a portfolio of work covered, and use it for reference. Doing extra work at home will help to strengthen your language skills. Homework will be issued during the course, but is recommended rather than compulsory.
What could I do next?
You may wish to carry onto Spanish Term 3, Spanish Improvers or try a different language such as French or German.
